Mike Rose's Accomplishments

1. Prevented Dorchester County becoming separated from Berkeley and Charleston Counties in reapportionment
2. Caused most functions of Legislative Delegations to be transferred to County Council
3. Caused “weighted voting” on County Legislative Delegations
4. Helped federal retirees obtain tax refunds due to illegal taxation
5. Helped restructure state government, including the highway department, magistrate system, legislative delegation system, coroners, sheriffs departments, regulation of nursing homes
6. Got outdated laws repealed
7. Helped force county council to repay millions in illegally collected vehicle taxes
8. Worked as member of “In Defense of Charleston” to prevent closure of Charleston Naval Base
9. Founder of Save the Yorktown, Inc. (brought Bob Hope to Charleston, S.C. to do two performances to raise money to preserve aircraft carrier Yorktown in Charleston Harbor)
10. Founder and Executive Director of Farmers Assistance Relief Mission and national “Adopt A Cow” program to raise money for farmers during drought
11. Worked to prohibit new waste in Dorchester County landfill
12. Member of Judicial Reform Panel
13. Got grant from Governor’s office for District Two schools to help at risk youth
14. Caused District Two school district to place its funds in bank giving highest interest rate as determined by competitive bid
15. Caused Department of Human Services to report to school District Two results of child abuse reports, as required by law
16. Stopped pornography, sex harassment and sex discrimination regarding Town of Summerville employees
